This week, it’s been inescapable in the news that schools all over the UK are temporarily closing to the majority of children. It’s been a week filled with questions and uncertainty – one of the largest being “is this my child’s last day at school this academic year?” Many parents have children who are heartbroken at potentially having their school year cut short, as they were so looking forward to celebrating moving on to secondary education from year 6, completing their GCSES, and moving on from sixth form to universities.

At The Angels Events, we’re big on focusing on the positives in life, and think it’s always good for people to have something to look forward to in their calendar (especially in recent times)! Currently, where school trips, proms, and end of year celebrations are potentially facing cancellation, we love the idea of planning an end-of-summer back to school party – something amazing to look forward to, after what may be a long few months of seeing family and friends less than we might like.

If putting up a structure like a stretch tent or marquee at home, the celebration could be held over two days: first, a day for the family to reunite, relax and enjoy a delicious BBQ or sharing boards with a great selection of drinks. The second, a day focused on the children! Invite all of their friends, and let them celebrate finishing school together, moving up a year, or even moving on to a new school.For the children’s end of year celebration, you could throw something elegant (similar to a prom), or alternatively a pop-up festival! Think lots of colour, fun, and dancing.

Opt for child-friendly street food (such as pizza or burgers), an ice cream cart, activities such as a VW campervan photo booth, glittery festival-inspired facepainting or fairground games. Hire a band or DJ to bring the party vibes and get all of the guests dancing.
