A Colourful Pop-Up Festival Corporate Event in Central Leeds

After the upheaval of the global Coronavirus outbreak, we think an event like this pop up party would be an excellent way to celebrate your team reuniting again after a long and isolating period of remote working. Our client, a cool and forward-thinking creative marketing agency got in touch to organise a team day and afterparty in central Leeds. This engaging corporate event was for all employees across their business, who are based in Leeds and London. At The Angels Events, we believe employee engagement is vital when it comes to retaining talent and making your team feel rewarded.

The daytime conference was to focus on wellbeing, with company updates and group workshops. In the evening, our client wanted their team to be teleported into a colourful, festival-inspired pop up party. The Angels live and breathe for that moment when guests enter the room and gasp at their incredible surroundings, so creating this surprising transformation of scenery was something our team were really excited about.

THE VENUE
The brief for the venue was central, cool and not too corporate. The space for the conference and the afterparty needed to be within the same building, for ease of movement between the two. Leeds offers a great variety of different event spaces, but after much research, site visits and discussion, it was decided that esteemed eatery Crafthouse & Angelica (located on the 5th and 6th floor of Trinity Leeds) would be the perfect location.

THE CONFERENCE
Crafthouse created a delicious menu for the wellbeing conference. Guests arrived to a healthy breakfast, were treated to smoothies in branded cups during the morning, and indulged in a mouthwatering and well balanced pan-Asian lunch. The venue was set up in a relaxed seating formation, with prominent client branding throughout the conference room. Delegates were inspired by an appearance from a celebrity medical expert, who spoke about wellbeing, lifestyle and stress management techniques.

We’d recommend making the most of your outside space by hiring in an open-sided structure such as a stretch tent, just in case! Let’s face it, in this country we are often faced with the weather either being too hot or the dread of an unexpected shower, and the solution of a stretch tent provides perfect cover (whatever the forecast!) in your garden. When planning the event pictured below we worked alongside a fabulous tent company called Hire and Style, who are also based in North Yorkshire. They provided a small stretch tent, measuring 6mtr square – we think this is the perfect size for a pop-up party for 40 guests, but there’s always the option of a 6x10mtr tent (or bigger) for those who’ll have higher guest numbers! We love working with these tents as they’re so adaptable and come in a huge range of sizes and colours. They can even be attached directly to buildings – a perfect way to extend an existing party space.

THE POP-UP FESTIVAL AFTERPARTY

Whilst the guests enjoyed the conference in Crafthouse, our team of event managers worked diligently over the course of the day to transform Angelica (normally a very elegant, modern and minimal venue) and its outdoor roof terrace into a festival-inspired wonderland.

Following the conference, guests were led up a secret spiral staircase to the party. Here, they were greeted by our team, given a branded festival wristband and following that, an expertly mixed cocktail by the Angelica bartenders. We loved seeing everyone’s astonished faces as they looked around the room, taking plenty of snaps for Instagram!

Many guests headed straight for the glitter artist (who in the summer takes residency at Glastonbury and Shambala festivals) who was on hand to give everyone festival-inspired face paint makeovers. Others headed out to the roof terrace with their drinks to take in the sunset, where we had installed giant festival flags, festoon lighting, colourful silk bunting, and had adorned the seating with bohemian-style cushions. Ribbon chandeliers and wind charms hung from the branches of the trees and danced in the wind, backdropped by the Leeds skyline.

With the event being festival themed, naturally the food was too! Angelica created a delicious menu of gourmet burgers, tacos, fish and chips, and ice cream. All of the food was served from fun “street food” stations, which were individually designed by our team of creative event planners.

Throughout the event, a DJ provided an amazing soundtrack and created a cool party vibe. After dinner, he was joined by a saxophonist, percussionist, and vocalist, who really got the party going! Amongst the dancing, guests had a hilarious time taking snaps in the retro photo booth (complete with festival-inspired props) and playing the amazing ball pit we had installed. We love thinking of fun entertainment ideas which are ahead of the curve.
